In December of 2019 I decided to challenged myself to create a poster everyday for a year. From December 2019 to December 2020, I created and posted a poster design to my Instagram account.
This was a challenging and rewarding experience. I learned a lot about myself not only as a graphic designer, but as a person.
My biggest takeaways:
• Being creative everyday is a skill. You choose to sit down and do the work or you don't
• Practicing a skill everyday makes you very proficient in that skill
• Not all of your ideas are going to be good. In fact, most will suck and that's okay
• You can find your style and your voice if you apply yourself to your art regularly
• You stop being scared of what people will think of your art
• You will quickly find out if you are truly passionate about something if you choose to do it everyday for a year or the rest of your life
I chose to display a few of my favorite posters. There are many more, 366 to be exact (2020 was a leap year). I did use colors later on, but I truly love black and white design and, to me, it is more challenging to make something interesting by limiting your colors.
If you would like to see all of the posters check out my Instagram here
Thanks for stopping by.
